David and Kathleen moved to Flinders Island early in 2007, intending to stay for twelve months. 6 years later they are still here!
They love the sense of community, the wild landscapes and the fulfilling lifestyle. Much of their leisure time is spent walking along the rugged Flinders coastline or up its tracked and untracked peaks, or kayaking around the beaches and headlands, or growing organic fruit and vegetables on their Trousers Point property.
The small remote community on Flinders is reliant on the Royal Flying Doctor Service for emergency medical evacuations, and for funding for essential local medical services. For the last 5 years Kathleen and David have been Volunteer Ambulance Officers at the local branch of the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, and have seen first-hand the care and support provided by the RFDS.
